Collaborative

The Natomas Literacy Coalition is a collaborative group of concerned parents, teachers, administrators, and students advocating for effective, evidence-based literacy strategies for all learners in the Natomas community. Rooted in a spirit of partnership, the coalition values working alongside schools, families, and community organizations to expand access to high-quality reading instruction and intervention. Rooted in partnership, we work with schools and community organizations to ensure every student has the support they need to become a confident, capable reader.

Advocacy

The Natomas Literacy Coalition is a collaborative group of parents, teachers, administrators, and students committed to advancing effective, evidence-based literacy practices for all learners in the Natomas community. We believe in a comprehensive approach that includes high-quality instruction, targeted intervention, family engagement, and access to culturally relevant materials. Our work is grounded in advocacy—we raise awareness, elevate community voice, and push for policies and practices that ensure every student has the opportunity to become a confident, capable reader.

We Truly Value Diversity

We truly value diversity—in identity, ability, culture, language, and lived experience—and believe that honoring this diversity is essential to creating equitable literacy outcomes. Our advocacy centers the voices of historically underserved students and families, and we strive to ensure that all learners see themselves reflected in what they read, how they are taught, and the opportunities they are given to grow as readers and thinkers.

Our reason for being

“When I needed help, no one in my school knew how to help me. And then I would get in trouble for acting out in class, but I was just frustrated. I hope no other kids have to experience this and that’s why we need this help.”
